Walking on Path

About this ADHD journey
in my family

I created this space to share my journey living with ADHD. This is where I document our experiences anonymously (for the privacy of my family) to help others who might be on a similar path. I use the pen name "Annie Mack"

By sharing my reflections and learning, I hope to create a connection with anyone seeking simple, honest perspectives on neurodiversity.

If you need diagnosis or treatment, please seek assistance from a health professional. Your doctor is a good starting place.

My late identification

Before ADHD was on my radar

For most of my life, I didn’t have a name for the patterns I struggled with, the overwhelm, the constant mental load, the difficulties with focus, organisation and time, and the deep exhaustion of trying to keep up.

Getting a name for it

It wasn’t until my son shared his own experiences with ADHD that I began to recognise myself - at the  age of 58. That conversation opened a door I never expected. Suddenly, the threads of our family story — across generations — started to make sense.

ADHD often runs in families, but many of us grew up in a time when it wasn’t understood, especially in women and girls. I’m part of a growing group of late‑identified adults learning the truth about ADHD for the first time. Not the myths, not the stereotypes, but the science, the lived realities, and the compassion we should have been offered decades ago.

What's different now

Now I focus on bridging that gap by sharing our learnings on:

  • the neuroscience behind ADHD

  • reflections on late‑identified ADHD

  • the ways ADHD shapes family dynamics across generations

If you’re exploring ADHD for yourself, your child, or both — you’re not alone, and you’re not imagining things.

What matters here

This is a space to make sense of ADHD in families across generations.

We share our own journey of discovery in the hope that it will help others too.

No shame or stereotypes
